WoW Consumables #4: Flasks
Although Elixirs can provide some of the best buffs to a raid member sometimes the costs outweigh the benefits. When learning a new boss the amount of deaths make the raiding expensive. In these cases, it is often best to go for a flask instead. Flasks are Elixir's which last two hours and persist through death. However, they count as both a Battle and a Guardian Elixir.
There are a few ways to get flasks but the only flasks which are usable no matter where you are a in the world are made via Alchemy. There are flasks which are only usable in Blade's Edge Mountain's and Gruuls Lair which are called unstable flasks. These can be gotten via a vendor in Blades's Edge or via the various crystalforges. The last place you can get flasks is via the Scryer or Aldor vendor in Shattrath. They give out Shattrath flasks usable in tier 5 and 6 instances only. I will delve into both of the latter of these flasks in a future post.
Alchemy flasks have higher material costs than elixir's so generally cost a great deal more to make however can outweigh the constant use of elixirs upon death. On progression attempts on a boss you can quickly save more money from flasks than elixir's, on top of the fact that it gives you two hours of not having to think of rebuffing as opposed to one.
The most popular raid flasks are:
- Fortification - +500 Maximum Health and +10 Defense
- Relentless Assault - +120 Attack Power
- Distilled Wisdom - +65 Intellect
- Mighty Restoration - +25 MP5
- Blinding Light - +80 Arcane, Holy, and Nature Spell Damage
- Pure Death - +80 Shadow, Fire, and Frost Spell Damage
- Chromatic Wonder - +35 to All Resistances and +18 to all Stats
